3 RSM is embraced and incorporated into all standard business practices. Sediment is adaptively managed as a resource through win-win collaboration with all stakeholders. Sound science, technology and engineering are used in sediment management planning and decision making Decisions and actions reflect a broad appreciation for and understanding of natural sediment systems and dynamics. Regional strategies guide investment to achieve long-term economic, environmental, and social benefits. Projects are managed adaptively with sediment considered as a resource through collaboration among all stakeholders. Definition: Regional Sediment Management is a systems-based approach for collaboratively solving sediment-related problems within a regional context. RSM is full implemented when:

4 Corps Headquarters, Division, and District roles Interagency relationships Authorities and funding Data management Technical issues RSM plan elements RSM Implementation Action Plans

5 Develop RSM operating principles Share data with other agencies and entities – common delivery framework Develop economic tools and guidance on system benefits and using information in decisions Identify forums to inform and engage middle managers about RSM approach Districts should participate in their regional IOOS and identify opportunities for synergy General Strock/Riley should direct Division Commanders to implement RSM approach and operating principles High Scoring Action Items

What are useful measures of success to assess RSM implementation? What relationships (interagency and internal to the Corps) need to be cultivated for successful implementation of RSM? How can the RSM approach and experiences be communicated more effectively? What ideas do you have for funding RSM implementation? RSM Policy and Implementation
