Invention: Hula Hoop Hula hoops used to be made out of vine, plants, wood, or metal. It’s name came from a Hawaiian dance that imitated the movement of the hula hoop. Wham-o sold 25 million hula hoops in two months. By the end of 1958, after 45 million dollars, the craze started to go away. The hula hoop could cause sprains, pains, and even heart attacks. It can be used as an exercise for adults and kids
