2.  Born on February 2, 1927 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Getz was a gifted boy, both in academics and music. His love for music focused his attention to the Saxophone. Getz learned to play the instrument quickly at the young age of thirteen.

3.  Getz joined Jack Teagarden’s band at the age of sixteen. Jack Teagarden’s band played along with renowned musicians such as Nat King Cole and Lionel Hampton.

10.  Stan Getz married Beverly Byrne in 1946, Beverly was a vocalist with Gene Krupa’s band. Together they had three children. Stan and Beverly battled drug and alcohol addictions throughout their life and were both later arrested for an attempted robbery.
