Introduction Dedicated resources for direct communication –Related contributions of C802.16n-10/0051 and 10/0052. Control structure for direct communication –Related contributions of C802.16n-10/0053 –Channel Structure of Direct Communication Synchronization Channel Contention Channel Dedicated Channel –Tx and Rx configuration LANE concept –Unicast and Multicast transmission

Motivation What to manage direct communication? –Management procedure for unicast transmission (1:1) –Management procedure for multicast transmission (1:N) –Management procedure for half-duplex operation –Management procedure for resource change and scanning If possible, management procedures and packets for direct communication follows ones for infra-structure communications.

Management Procedures of Direct Communication Basic Procedures –Link Management (Establishment/Release) –Flow Management (Addition/Change/Deletion) –Transmission Management for Half-Duplex Operation –Scan and Resource Change Procedures for multicast transmission –Support of point to multi-point communication. –Broadcasting management messages in one way. No response to the management messages.

Basic Procedures DM (Direct Mode) Prefix for management messages of direct communication. Management Messages

Basic Procedure: Link Management Link Establishment of direct communication –To establish a direct communication link among MSs. –(1:1) DM–Ranging Request/Response (DM-RNG-REQ/RSP) –(1:N) DM–Ranging Command (DM-RNG-CMD)

Basic Procedure: Link Management Link Release of direct communication –To release a direct communication link among MSs. –(1:1) DM–Deregistration Request/Response (DM-DREG- REQ/RSP) –(1:N) DM–Deregistration Command (DM-DREG-CMD)

Basic Procedure: Flow Management Service Flow Addition –To add a service flow on direct communication link –(1:1) Procedure DM-Dynamic Service Addition Request (DM-DSA-REQ) DM-Dynamic Service Addition Response (DM-DSA-RSP) DM-Dynamic Service Addition Acknowledgement (DM-DSA-ACK) –(1:N) DM-Dynamic Service Addition Command (DM-DSA-CMD)

Basic Procedure: Flow Management Service Flow Deletion –To delete a service flow on direct communication link –(1:1) Procedure DM-Dynamic Service Deletion Request (DM-DSD-REQ) DM-Dynamic Service Deletion Response (DM-DSD-RSP) DM-Dynamic Service Deletion Acknowledgement (DM-DSD-ACK) –(1:N) DM-Dynamic Service Deletion Command (DM-DSD-CMD)

Basic Procedure: Measurement Measurement Request –To request the measurement of signal on dedicated channel at the receiver –(1:1) DM–Scanning Request/Response (DM-SCN-REQ/RSP) –(1:N) DM–Scanning Command (DM-DREG-CMD) Measurement Report –DM-Scanning Report (DM-SCN-REP)

Basic Procedure: Resource Management Resource Change Request –The receiving MS requests resource changes because of interference increase over the resource of dedicated channel –(1:1) DM-Change Request (DM-CHG-REQ) Resource Change –To change the resource of dedicated channel among the closed users. –(1:1) DM-Change Response/Acknowledgement (DM- CHG-RSP/ACK) –(1:N) DM-Change Command (DM-CHG-CMD)

Basic Procedure: Resource Management Signaling procedure

Basic Procedure: Token Management To control packet transmission on the dedicated channel for half-duplex operation. –The MS having a token transmits packets on the resources of dedicated channel continuously. Token Handover –To take over a token to next MS –(1:1) (1:N) DM-Token Handover (DM-TKN-HO)

Basic Procedure: Token Management Token Request –To request token handover –(1:1) DM-Token Request (DM-TKN-REQ) –(1:1) (1:N) DM-Token Response (DM-TKN-RSP) To reject the request of token handover –(1:1) (1:N) DM-Token Advertisement (DM-TKN-ADV) To inform the receiving MSs of the token status

Two Hop Operation An Relay MS transmits all the packets to MSs within a fixed service coverage. An MS sends packets to the Relay MS for relaying the packets to the MSs.

Two Hop Operation Relay Station has an authority to control token operation. An Example –Multicast transmission

Proposed text for 16n AWD It will be updated.

Conclusion Basic Procedures –Link Management (Establishment/Release) –Flow Management (Addition/Change/Deletion) –Transmission Management for Half-Duplex Operation –Scan and Resource Change Two Hop Operation –Relay MS relays all the packets with a fixed service coverage (extension of service coverage) 1:1 and 1:N procedures
