1 Warm Up Monday, 11-3 Copy the words and definitions below. Then, find the page that each word is used on and explain the context within with each word is used.  Exhibitionist- a person who behaves in ways intended to attract attention or display his or her powers, personality, etc.  Dough - money  Ostracize - to exclude, by general consent, from society, friendship, conversation, privileges, etc.  Unscrupulous - not scrupulous; unrestrained by scruples; conscienceless; unprincipled  Qualms - a sudden feeling of apprehensive uneasiness

2 Learning Target  To review specific vocabulary used in chapters 1-5 of Catcher in the Rye.  To track the development of the character Holden throughout the first five chapters in the book.

3 Group Work 1. Work with three-four other students. 2. Bring your journals, and share your notes about Holden that you’ve been taking for each category. 3. Out of all your work, choose the best descriptor and quotation for each of the five chapters. Each student’s work must be represented here (so, if all four students completed the task, then three of the students’ answers should be represented once, and one of the student’s work should be represented twice). 4. Be prepared to justify/explain your answers.

4 Chart  Elect one representative to write only the four descriptors (not the quotations) on the board.  We will review all the groups’ answers, and will request quotations and explanations to substantiate your responses.
