2 Job Description The athletic trainer will be able to demonstrate an ability to perform the following functions regarding athletic injuries: prevention, assessment, treatment, and reconditioning as set forth by the NATA Board of certification. The athletic trainer will demonstrate proper taping, strapping, bracing, and fitting of athletic equipment. The athletic trainer will carry out all prescribed treatments and recommendations by the team/program/event physician. The athletic trainer will cover assigned pre-season physicals, sports games or matches, and related events under the supervision of the program manager. The athletic trainer must demonstrate knowledge of the principals of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the athletes status and interpret the appropriate information.

5 Degrees/Years of study required Bachelors or Masters Obtain a 4-year undergraduate degree in athletic training or sports science. The field of athletic training will prepare you for and train you in first aid procedures and teach you how to identify and treat specific athletic injuries.

The Athletic Trainer Job outlook at 30% growth will add nearly 5,500 athlete training jobs to the total market from 2010 – 2020. If someone is in love with sports at the high school, junior college and college level this job will allow sports focused people to be involved with athletes day in and day out. New York looks like the highest paying state with $48,000 a year giving them the best paying athletic trainer job market.
