What is Alzheimer’s and what does it do to the human body? Alzheimer’s Disease is a progressive, neurodegenerative disorder that is characterized by cognitive deteriorative neuropsychiatric symptoms or behavioral changes. AD can occur in 3 different stages, Early, Middle, and Final. AD can cause the body to do a lot of different things, but the main thing is that when certain regions of the brain are destroyed then it can cause memory loss. These regions can include cerebral cortex basal forebrain, and association cortex. This disease has no cure and is not completely understood why it occurs in humans.

Theories on why AD is more prevalent in women. After menopause women and men have similar hormone responses, because of relatively low circulating estrogen in women this can increase their chances. They also have significantly lower baseline of GH (Gonadrotopin hormone). What can lower women’s risks! Women can receive hormone therapy replace. Have screening tests as they get older to detect early degeneration.
