2
What is CAD? CAD – Computer Aided Design 2D vs. 3D CAD Uses in architecture, design, engineering, etc. Many software packages can perform aerodynamic, thermodynamic simulations. Allows users to design an object without actually building it. Let’s see an example.
3
Why does this matter to us? Describes a 3D part in a fully completed state Allows other groups, suppliers, and collaborators to view and modify plans. Physical representation of a concept Simpler and more cost-effective than building prototype models Easy to share between organizations
4
Common CAD Software AutoCAD Rhinoceros 3D TurboCAD Google SketchUp
5
Structure Group and CAD Model our structural designs for other groups in WBS Describe what we’re working on to suppliers and collaborators Demonstration – making a hemisphere.
