2. Company Philosophy Children learn and develop best through play experiences; therefore, Theraplay, Inc. provides all therapy services in a play environment. This philosophy helps children develop to their fullest potential. Family members are encouraged to participate in therapy sessions to make them active facilitators in their child’s rehabilitation. Home programs are developed with family members to ensure the program’s success in each unique family environment. Theraplay’s staff consists of highly skilled, pediatric experienced and licensed physical, occupational, and speech/language therapists, assistants and special educators. Every child is evaluated to identify their needs, and an individualized therapy program developed specific to that child. Our highly qualified therapists are dedicated to assisting children in developing to their fullest potential in a play environment. Theraplay therapists work together in a team environment communicating closely with the referring physician, specialists and family members to develop individualized therapy programs in order to meet the unique needs of each child and family.

4. Supervisors Ms. Lori Manager of the West Chester branch. Achieved her Masters in Occupational Therapy at Thomas Jefferson University. Also certified in Therapeutic Listening, Interactive Metronome and Handwriting without Tears Ms. Stacia Volunteer/Intern supervisor. Made my schedule, came up with projects, gave me my midterm and final evaluations.

Responsibilities Observation/Assistance 1 hour with an Occupational Therapist and patient Occasionally Co-treat with Speech Helped get activities ready for session Cleaned up after session Play with children as the therapist writes their SOAP note Observe the activities performed by the child and how they completed it Downtime Cleaning used toys, mats, mirrors, etc. Intern projects (laminating, folders, pamphlets) Helping other therapists

7. Specific Experience Ms. Melissa Favorite OT, spent the most time with her. One girl L. wanted to help and do every activty, always cheerful and sang Bon Jovi with a lisp. Me: “I’m here one more week!” L: “And then what?” Me: “Then I go back to school.” L: “And then you come back here?”

8. Overall Experience My experience at Theraplay was easily one of the most incredible things I’ve ever done. It helped me to truly realize that I found exactly what I want to do for the rest of my life. Everyone on the staff was warm and welcoming and made me feel like part of the team. Leaving it was harder than leaving any job I’ve been in before, and I am eagerly looking forward to finishing my education and contributing to my field again.
