Set 9 Muscles Hip and Quadriceps
2
Quadricep Muscle Group
4
Osgood-Schlatters Disease During activities that involve a lot of running and jumping, the pull of the front thigh muscles (quadriceps) can place tension on the tendon that connects the kneecap to the shinbone. In Osgood-Schlatter disease, the tendon may begin to pull away from the spot where it attaches to the shinbone, causing pain and swelling.
5
Trochanter of Femur
6
Intertrochanteric line of Femur
7
Trochanter of Femur
8
Vastus intermedius
9
Origin: Origin: Insertion: Insertion: Action: Action: Proximal 2/3 of femur superior border of patella and tibial tuberosity by patellar ligament Extends leg at knee
10
Vastus medialis
11
Origin: Origin: Insertion: Insertion: Action: Action: intertrochanteric line of femur; with tendon of adductors medial border of patella and tibial tuberosity by patellar ligament extends leg at knee
12
Vastus lateralis
13
Origin: Origin: Insertion: Insertion: Action: Action: upper intertrochanteric line of femur; with tendon of gluteus maximus lateral border of patella and tibial tuberosity by patellar ligament extends leg at knee
14
Rectus femoris
15
Origin: Origin: Insertion: Insertion: Action: Action: iliac spine and brim of acetabulum of pelvis upper border of patella and tibial tuberosity by patellar ligament extends leg at knee and flexes thigh at hip
16
Gluteus medius
17
Origin: Origin: Insertion: Insertion: Action: Action: outer surface of ilium greater trochanter of femur (head) abducts femur at hip and rotates medially; major lateral hip stabilizer
18
Adductor longus
19
Origin: Origin: Insertion: Insertion: Action: Action: front of pubis between crest and symphysis middle 1/3 of femur adducts thigh at hip; assists in thigh flexion and medial hip rotation
