1 EDUCATION FEEDBACK SURVEY: GIVING TEACHERS A VOICE Principal Ready

2 PURPOSE  Far too often teachers’ voices are co-opted by whomever is speaking about/for them at the time.  This survey is giving teachers and school administrators a voice  Empirical as apposed to anecdotal data on how educators are supported with the implementation of education reforms

3 BIG PICTURE  Encourage your teachers to participate in the MLI survey!!!

4 WHO IS INVOLVED?  This project will seek input from a representative sample of North Carolina teachers, principals, and district staff  Not all educators in NC will be surveyed  Teachers, Principals, and District personnel will complete surveys  District personnel are asked to upload curricular resources

5 YOUR TEACHERS MAY GET AN EMAIL LIKE THIS  Dear Teacher,  Please complete the education feedback survey as soon as possible – your feedback is very important. You were selected to participate in this survey to share your experiences with the implementation of college-ready standards, teacher professional development programs, teacher evaluation systems (NCEES), and personalized learning for students. The data collected will empower state- and district-level leaders to make critical decisions about the supports needed by teachers and principals to implement key education reforms.  To complete the survey, go to www.educationfeedback.org and log in using the credentials below. Username : turner_900 Password : 8edfxxaawww.educationfeedback.org  The survey should take approximately 20 minutes to complete. Please complete the survey no later than Friday, October 23rd.  Westat, the feedback survey administrator, is offering you a $10 Amazon gift card to thank you in advance for your time and participation. 6 PRIVACY  This project takes data privacy very seriously. The project will share results at the aggregate level without identifying participants or their schools  No individual-level teacher and student performance data will be collected, which gives confidence that teachers’ and students’ information is protected.  Westat, a Maryland-based research company, will be managing the data collection efforts

7 WHERE WE ARE?  NC had one cycle of surveys in which educators were sampled.  We need to get participation rates up  1,379 teachers participated  Another 213 took the incentive, but did not complete the survey  We paid out $33,700 in incentives to educators in NC

10 WHERE ARE WE TRYING TO GO?  We would like to have concrete empirical data to help guide decisions in NC  Educators will get instant results on how their answers compare to other educators in the state
