1 “The Tell-Tale Heart Stations”
You are to choose 3 stations to complete out of the 5 offered. You must label every station. We will work on the stations Tues., Wed. and Thursday in class. You must turn them in Monday at the beginning of class. You will have directed studies, if needed, to work on them. They are due Monday!! Use your time wisely in class.

2 Station #1 IDEA Vocabulary
You may write on this paper. Choose 6 of the following vocabulary words and complete the IDEA chart. Acute, audacity, conceive, crevice, derision, hypocritical, stealthily, stifled, vehemently, vex, sagacity Be sure to complete each section thoroughly. Also, be sure your sentence thoroughly explains the meaning of the word. Remember to choose 6 different things for elaborate on all 6 words. (You may not use the elaborate choices more than once.)

3 Station #2 Newspaper Drawing Activity
You work for a newspaper as the staff's artist. One of your coworkers comes to you with a great story on Edgar Allen Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart" and asks you to illustrate it. For this news assignment, you must do the following: Choose a memorable scene from the story (example: the murder scene, the confession scene, etc.) and illustrate it in color. Give an explanation of the picture - what is happening in this scene? Be as specific as possible. You must write at least 5 sentences explaining.         Finally, you must include two kinds of figurative language, which you come up with on your own, to make your description more interesting (choose two: alliteration, onomatopoeia, metaphor, simile, idiom, and personification) Be sure to highlight your examples of figurative language in your paragraph. You may refer to your literature book under literary terms to refresh your mind on figurative language if you are unsure. You are to draw on the plain white paper and it must be colored.

4 Station #3 Comic Creator
You will need to create a comic strip/movie slide with at least six blocks that summarizes the story “The Tell-Tale Heart” Think about the plot development and use the 6 boxes to illustrate it. In each movie clip, sketch the scene in the correct order as follows. 1st box- Exposition 2nd & 3rd- boxes Rising Action 4th box- Climax 5th box- Falling Action 6th box- Resolution Remember details that you see, feel, taste, and hear. Write a short title for each scene at the top of the clip. You may write on the paper provided.

5 Station #4 IPODS 1) First, push play on the iPod to play “The Tell-Tale Heart song.” Look and Listen to the words as the song plays. 2) Please write the questions on your own paper. Then read and answer the following questions in complete sentences: A. Describe your mood prior to hearing this song. B. How do you feel after you have listened to it? C. What is your opinion of the song? D. What judgement would you make about the songwriter? E. What choice would you have made if you had his same feelings? F. What is one question you would ask in an interview with the narrator? G. Compare and Contrast the mood of the story with the mood of the song. What details contribute to the mood and tone? 3) On the back of your paper, draw a picture of what you visualize as you listen to the song.

6 Station #5 Computer Research
Using the internet and your video worksheet, research Edgar Allan Poe. I have listed several questions if you need some help with knowing what to look for about Edgar Allen Poe. You must Choose two of the following to complete. Use plain white paper to complete the following. When and where was Edgar Allan Poe born? *Create a birth certificate using this information. Be sure that the certificate is signed by both of his parents. Use the computer or your device to find out what a birth certificate looks like and mimic it. Tell me about Poe’s college experience. Did he drop out? Did he graduate? *Design a college T-shirt using this information. Describe was Poe’s relationship with John Allan? * Create a cassette tape with a playlist of mixed songs that fits their relationship. What were some of Poe’s greatest works? * Create the front cover of a book for one of his famous poems or short stories. Who was Poe’s wife and how did she die? What is unique about her? *Create a coffin for her and list what kinds of trinkets you would put in her coffin. *Design a Headstone for her as well. When did Edgar Allan Poe die? How? * Write a 5 sentence obituary for Poe.
