3 Why we need a green wall Health and Wellbeing – - Helps filter pollutants - Absorbs dust Aesthetics Habitats – birds, bugs and bees To provide a real life experience and project for a bigger Green wall for Green capital 2015. Designed and made by UWE students as part of their curriculum. Because Bristol University has it. To support other projects

4 Why is this campaign so important? Will support students and there projects in the university Students will value the university Welcoming and better learning environment Showcase to new students what is on offer at UWE

5 Benefits for the University Proves university stance as a contender in the modern world Student involvement, pitching the real world scenarios Cross subject involvement - Aesthetic factors and mental health with psychology students - Potential rainwater collection and use with geography students

6 Examples of Green Walls Bristol UniversityRedland Green School Grows produce on their roof for there school. Roof vegetable garden has produced potatoes, onions, carrots, squash and lots of herbs!

7 Species that could be present Western gorse - excellent food for bees, endangered, promotes endangered wildlife, generate funding from grants Wild strawberries - edible, promotes sustainability & edible landscapes, promotes interest Bilberries - high in antioxidants, abundant in wales but lacking in England, low maintenance

8 Pricing Pre-grown modular living walls: Grants promoting the use of rare species, such as western gorse Design, supply and fit: £500 - £550 + VAT per m² Irrigation: £3,000.00 + VAT Maintenance: Subject to design and accessibility

9 Bristol Green Capital “a low carbon city with a high quality of life for all”. £140m in an energy investment programme, accessible city through doubling the number of cyclists in the city & investing over £400m in transport infrastructure Need to show our involvement with Green Capital Celebration of Green Capital award
