4 Goals of the Congress of Vienna: Members included the “Big Four” and France Austria, England, Prussia, Russia, & France (new king) Undo everything that Napoleon had done. Reduce France to its old boundaries. Restore as many of the old monarchies as possible. Stop the spread of Democracy. 8 Key Principles Established at Vienna Balance of Power – Equal power to all nations. Legitimacy – Rightful monarchs would be put back in power. 9 Results of the Congress of Vienna People had no say over territorial changes. Language, nationality, and religion weren’t taken into consideration. Ideas of Democracy and self-government were rejected by European leaders/monarchs.
