2 An 18 th century English poet Born in a Roman Catholic family Studied Latin, Greek, French, Italian at home. Best known for his satirical verse, as well as for his translation of Homer. Essay on Criticism, The Rape of the Lock and The Dunciad. Only 1.37 meters because of Pott’s disease.

4 A philosophical poem, written in heroic couplets and published between 1732 and 1734. It popularized optimistic philosophy throughout England and the rest of Europe. Pope did not complete it The natural laws consider the Universe as a whole a perfect work of God: Utopia for human It is man's duty to strive to be good regardless of other situations

6 On its publication, An Essay on Man received great admiration throughout Europe. Voltaire called it "the most beautiful, the most useful, the most sublime didactic poem ever written in any language". Later however, Voltaire renounced his admiration for Pope's and Leibniz 's optimism and even wrote a novel,Candide, as a satire on their philosophy of ethics.

7 Essay On Man Views everything happens having a reason. If things are evil or bad, people should leave them. Based on second point that means Alexander believe do not intervene or help if someone needs. Candide Views everything happens creating by man. If there’s something bad, people needs to fight for better world, in order to choose what they want. Based on second point, man can control the outcomes to a certain matter(because they are the facters.)

8 Optimism Bonds man’s relationship and the universe God plays this game!!! Everything happens for a reason.

9 Uses the characters’ actions to portray good & bad in life. Uses hyperbole to exaggerate in a catastrophic figure. Utopian does not exist in reality.
