Report on why the IT problems with AFS caused problems for CCC operation tonight between 21:30 and 23:50: it appears that only one machine really had AFS problems, CS-CCR-WWW1 (= ABWWW), the main web server for starting CCC applications. This was because a cron scheduled job had been setup to frequently copy Hardware Commissioning Cryo web pages to an AFS home directory. Every minute a new cron daemon blocked on the AFS write and eventually the machine ran out of memory and was unable to serve web requests for the operators. At 23:50 A. Bland rebooted CS-CCR-WWW1 and from then on the operators could start programs. To be followed up AFS problems – knock-on 25-6-2010 3b collisions
