By the end of the lesson… All of you: Will understand the principle parts of the Cardiovascular System. Most of you: Will understand the key terms of HEART RATE, BLOOD PRESSURE, SYSTOLIC and DIASTOLIC PRESSURE. Some of you: Will begin to understand the IMMEDIATE and SHORT TERM effects of exercise on the body.

The Cardiovascular System… The CV system includes THE HEART, BLOOD and BLOOD VESSELS. The Lungs play an important part also. The HEART is best described as A MUSCULAR PUMP. The Bloods main functions are… –To supply the body with O 2 and Nutrients. –To remove waste products such as CO 2 and LACTIC ACID.

So What happens during exercise? Exercise has a number of IMMEDIATE effects upon the CV System. Increased HR Release of ADRENALINE Increased O 2 uptake Eating before Exercise?
