Middle Passage Video Video The voyage across the Atlantic Ocean that enslaved Africans were forced to endure Disease spread quickly Suffocation, malnutrition and suicide were common 1 out of every 6 slaves died en route.

Slave culture in Americas Slaves from all over Africa created a new culture in America. Families were a refuge for slaves Religion was Christian with African traditions Gave them hope Spirituals included songs and stories to pass on to their families.

Group Activity Random.org Random.org Groups of 4. You are an activist group in the 1500’s that is anti-slavery. As a group, come up with a solution to help the plantation owners get what they want without using African slaves. I will select one person from each group to present their solution to the group.
