Geometry Stations Each station has three activities to choose from. The group will select one activity. Each station will last 15-20 minutes. All student work will be recorded on an individually selected piece of paper. One activity at each station is marked with a star. Each student has to complete at least three star-rated activities by the end of class.

Station 1 Choose one of the following activities to complete as a group or pair. -Identifying nets and 3D geometric figures game (See attached handout) –TLI questions (Record your answers and self- grade using the answer key). –Open Response (Record your answers and self-grade using the answer key).

Station 1- Identifying Nets and Figures game. Match the name, geometric figure, and net with a partner or group. Use the answer key to evaluate your work. Matching each item on the row in the answer key is worth 1 point Write your total out of 11 under the Station 1 section on your paper. Name:3D NumberNet Number Pentagonal Prism1 Cylinder11 Square-based pyramid9 Octahedron5 Triangular Prism4 Hexagonal Based Pyramid6 Cuboid10 Cube3 Tetrahedron2 Dodecahedron8 Pentagonal-based Pyramid7

Station 2 Choose one of the following activities to complete as a group or pair. –Manipulating area activity (See attached handout) –Identify and Calculate Area and Perimeter handout (Record your answers and self-grade using the answer key). –TLI questions (Record your answers and self-grade using the answer key).

Manipulating Area Activity. –Round robin answering using toothpicks. 1. One student sets up a quadrilateral using a variable number of toothpicks as the sides. 2.The next student calculates the area (use toothpicks as the unit. Ex. Toothpicks 2 or T 2.) 3.The next student changes a dimension (ex. Doubles the side length of a quadrilateral). 4.The last student calculates the area. 5.Students discuss what happened to the area after the side length was changed. 6.Rotate roles and repeat the activity. Record your results and show your work. Setting up a chart is an excellent idea!

Station 3 Choose one of the following activities to complete as a group or pair. –Match mine game (See attachment) –Open Response Question (Record your answers and self-grade using the answer key). –Translation, Rotation, and Reflection handout (Record your answers and self-grade using the answer key).

Match-Mine Game 1.Working with a partner or as a group, select the small coordinate planes and a large coordinate plane sheet 2.Draw the appropriate reflection, translation or rotation on the blank coordinate plane sheet for each small sheet. 3.Use the answer key to self-grade your work. Record your individual results on your colored answer sheet.

Station 4 Choose one of the following activities to complete as a group or pair. –Completing Identify and Calculate Area and Perimeter for each triangle handout as a group. (Record your answers and self-grade using the answer key). –TLI Questions (Record your answers and self-grade using the answer key). –Identifying Triangles handout (Record your answers and self-grade using the answer key).

Station 5 Choose one of the following activities to complete as a group or pair. –Completing Plotting single quadrant pairs handout as a group. (Record your answers and self-grade using the answer key). –TLI Questions. (Record your answers and self-grade using the answer key). –Similar figures matching game (See attachment).

Similar Figures Matching Game 1.Working as a group or with a partner, spread out the white 2-D shapes provided. 2.Analyze the dimensions and ratios of the polygons to identify similar figures. 3.Utilize the answer key to self-grade your work. Record your results on your colored answer sheet.

Similar Figures Matching Answer Key The following sets contain similar figures. You get one point for every similar figure correctly matched with the set. There are a total of 10 points. 1,2,3,17 7,8,9 18,19,20

Station 6 Choose one of the following activities to complete as a group or pair. –Completing Identify the elements of a circle handout as a group. (Record your answers and self-grade using the answer key). – TLI Questions (Record your answers and self-grade using the answer key). –Open Response (Record your answers and self-grade using the answer key).

Station 7 Choose one of the following activities to complete as a group or pair. –Perimeter Activity (See attachment) –TLI questions (Record your answers and self- grade using the answer key). –Open Response (Record your answers and self-grade using the answer key).

Perimeter Activity –Round robin answering using toothpicks. 1. One student sets up a quadrilateral using a variable number of toothpicks as the sides. 2.The next student calculates the perimeter (use toothpicks as the unit. Ex. Toothpicks or T.) 3.The next student changes a dimension (ex. Doubles the side length of a quadrilateral). 4.The last student calculates the perimeter. 5.Students discuss what happened to the perimeter after the side length was changed. 6.Rotate roles and repeat the activity. Record your results and show your work. Setting up a chart is an excellent idea!
