2.  The XXX Olympic Games will be held from 27 July to 12 August 2012 in London, England. This will be the first city to host the Olympics three times, having played host in 1908 and 1948  The International Olympic Committee (COI) chose nine candidates which would to a final vote to decide the venue of the games.

5.  Designed by the British artist David Watkins, about 4,700 gold, silver and bronze medals. Be delivered in 800 ceremonies before the national anthem sounds of the winners (all recorded by the London Philharmonic Orchestra). Each medal weighs around 400 grams and has coined the portrait of Nike, the Greek goddessof victory, on one side and the logo of the Olympic Games in the other.

The Olympic Park is home to the Games and is built on a former industrial site inStratford, has nine major Olympic venues, and all are within walking distance of the Olympic Village which will house 16,000 participants and staff selections. Its cultural,together with the history and profile of London, has mainly contributed to bring the Olympics back to the city.
