All types of spa pool from deck level with balance tank and external filtration, rigid (prefabricated solid), self contained free board with skimmer, inflatable etc to whirl pool bath, foot spas and even natural spas. Cruise ships will be included. COVERAGE

The Control of Legionella and Other Infectious Agents in Spa Pools The new publication will have ACOP status. ACOP’s are approved by the HSE Board and describe the preferred ways to comply with the law ie Health & Safety at Work Act 1974. Excludes private owners in their own permanent homes. The new document is a compliance document Management of Spa Pools

Still under consideration but will include sections on: Legal Definitions Design Operations – and settings where HASAW applies – including Landlord responsibilities and EA water disposal. Monitoring Appendices and Sample Risk Assessment Audit check list will be provided Glossary continues FORMAT

The guidance issued by the Heath & Safety Executive: Following the guidance is not compulsory, unless specifically stated, and you are free to take other action. But if you do follow the guidance you will normally be doing enough to comply with the law. Health and Safety Inspectors seek to secure compliance with the Law and may refer to guidance. Very much a Risk Assessment led approach. Minimal guidance from HSE. NEW detailed advice will come from PWTAG to include all the areas that HSE do not wish to include. RISK ASSESSMENT

Short period will be available for the HSE (Compliance) part. 4 weeks Consultation anticipated PWTAG booklet will also be consulted on CONSULTATION & TIMETABLE FOR HSG 274 – 4
