The Khmer Rouge Once the Khmer Rouge had won control of Cambodia, they no longer helped Prince Sihanouk. They began to run Cambodia according to their own political belief – radical communism. After the Khmer Rouge were overthrown by the Vietnamese, Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge continued to fight a guerrilla war from the jungle. Many people wanted to capture Pol Pot and make him stand trial for killing so many people.
