Habitat and Niche Habitat comes from the Latin verb meaning “to dwell.” An organism’s habitat is where it dwells or lives. A niche is a certain role that each population has in its habitat. Eagles and owls share the same habitat and food. Eagles hunt during the day and owls at night, different niches.

Producers Plants,or producers, use sunlight to make the food they need from carbon dioxide and water. Cactus Pecan Tree Wheat Grass
11
Herbivores- Plant eaters
13
Omnivores- Plant and meat eater
15
Carnivores- Meat eaters
16
Consumers A consumer is an organism that get energy by eating other organisms. Organisms that eat only plants and plant products are called herbivores examples include: grasshoppers, deer, and rabbits. Animals that eat other animals are called carnivores examples include: sharks, hawks, and wolves. Animals that eat both plants and animals are called omnivores examples include: cockroaches humans, and bears.
18
Decomposers Decomposers are organisms that get energy by feeding on dead materials and wastes. Centipedes Earthworms Mushrooms Bacteria
19
Predator-Hunter
21
Prey- What is hunted
22
Food Chain The path of energy from one organism to another is called a food chain.
23
Food Web A food web shows different pathways fro the flow of energy in an ecosystem.
