3 Types of leadership. McGregor’s, X & Y theory (1960) - These were two ideas on how leadership worked in the past, X theory is based on the view of the worker as someone not to be trusted a more authoritarian leadership style. Whilst theory Y is more based on human relation and interaction a more social approach to leadership. 5 Kouzes and Posner's Transformational Leadership Model

6 4 Key ideas within Transformational Theory Individualized Consideration: the leader attends to each follower's needs, acts as a Mentor or coach to the follower and listens to the follower's concerns and needs. The leader celebrates the individual contribution that each follower can make to the team. Inspirational motivation: What this idea poses is that Transformational leaders have a clear vision that they are able to articulate to followers. These leaders are also able to help followers experience the same passion and motivation to fulfil these goals. 7 Transformational Leadership There are real truths about this style of approach and how it works with in early childhood. As I think if you yourself find a true mentor or person of inspiration then your work and ideas change and evolve over time. There’s a great quote by Peter Drucker “don't try to innovate for the future. Innovate for the present”. This I feel is a great way to think about leadership in early childhood as what we are dong right now in the industry and the changes that we are looking to make are a real need for now as well as the future.
