English/Language A Choose TWO semester courses in IC: ○ Contemporary Lit ○ English 4 – Novels ○ Mythology ○ Multicultural Lit Note: These courses require teacher recommendation & summer reading ○ AP Language & Composition by application if you are currently in Brit Lit or College Prep Comp ○ AP Literature & Composition by requesting the course with your AP Lang teacher

Honors SStudents cannot request Honors courses in IC Exception: Engineering and Biomedical CCurrent Honors students must maintain a least a B- or higher each semester t o continue in Honors level classes HHonors courses in the same subject area do not need to complete an application HHonors courses in new subject area : Download and print the Honors Program Expectation and Application AND the Teacher Recommendation from the DCC Honors webpage

Advanced Placement All AP Courses All students enrolling in all AP COURSES must download and print the Advanced Placement Expectation Agreement form from the DCC AP webpage Complete and sign the form including current teacher recommendations and submit to Ms.Tegano in Campus Services by February 23rd Students may not request AP classes in IC except for AP Computer Science Link to DCC AP webpage through Counseling or www.tinyurl.com/dcc-AdvancedPlacement

Courses requiring Applications Requests may be removed if your application was not submitted and/or approved. What do I need to graduate? Review Credit Evaluation Sheet & Transcript (IC) Look for missing credits in your Check Sheet Math, US History, Civics, Core, PE, Fine Arts, Health See your counselor regarding Transcript corrections HEAR Requirements for 4 year colleges in CO D20 Grad Requirements plus one more year of math Continue 5 Core subjects to prepare and be most competitive for College Look for electives that match a potential career interest or field of study for college

Transcripts How are colleges going to look at your transcript? GPA Trend Strength of Courses taken ○ 5 Core all 4 years to be most competitive ACT & SAT Test Scores ○ Scores may need to come directly from ACT or College Board Colleges will make admission decisions based on grades earned up through this semester and the courses you choose for your senior year! Next year’s grades still count to keep admission.

Senior Course Planning Worksheet Read and fill out the 12 th Grade Course Planning Worksheet before entering courses in IC Review transcript and credit evaluation sheet to determine what credits are needed to complete D20 graduation requirements. Be sure to add those classes to your course planning worksheet Core – English, Science, Math, Social Studies and World Language Algebra 1 (Yr) & Geometry (Yr) Civics (Sem) & U. S. History (Yr) World Language (Yr) Health (1 credit) & PE (3 credits) When planning out the rest of your classes consider: Four year plan located in your ICAP in Naviance Post-secondary plans – College, vocational training or other

Your 5 tasks 1. Review your 4 year plan on your ICAP in Naviance 2. Complete 2015-2016 Senior Course Planning Worksheet 3. Input requests in IC between February 9th – February 20th oMoMath, Science, Humanities & World Language are put in IC by your current teachers oToTalk with your current teachers regarding your placement oEoEmail your counselor with any additional courses to add 4. Turn in applications by February 20th unless otherwise specified 5. Contact teachers regarding applications, auditions and approvals

Things to remember… Don’t forget the “A” and “B” courses for year long classes You are building your resume for college with the classes you enroll in The Course Curriculum Guide is online at DCC High webpage Pay attention to prerequisites and fees! If you are planning to take any Academy Online High School courses next year, request “Online Elective” in IC Seniors may have up to TWO Attendance Waivers per semester If you neglect to do your part, you probably will not get the classes you want! Input your requests between Feb. 9 th – Feb. 20 th !
