-last section we wrote an equation of a line using its slope and y-intercept -now, you will write an equation of a line
2
Writing an Equation of a Line in Slope-intercept Form. Step 1: Identify the slope m. You can use the slope formula to calculate the slope if you know two points on the line. Step 2: Find the y-intercept. You can substitute the slope and the coordinates of a point (x,y) on the line in y=mx+b. Then solve for b. Step 3: Write and equation using y=mx+b.
3
Write an equation of the line that passes through the point (6,3) and has a slope of -2. Step 1: Identify the slope. slope=-2 Step 2: Find the y-intercept using the point (6,3). y=mx+b y=-2x+b 3=(-2)(6)+b 3=-12+b 3+12=-12+12+b 15=b Step 3: Write an equation of the line. y=-2x+15
4
Write an equation of the line that passes through (3,0) and (2,-4).
