Design a CD cover Use Paint.net to design a suitable cover for these songs: Au Clair de la Lune Sur le Pont d’Avignon Use layers Insert images in separate layers Insert text in separate layer(s)

Measure the INTERNAL size in centimetres. Start Use the menu bar: Image > Canvas size. Set the resolution to 200 pixels/inch Then the width and height to your measurements in centimetres.

Make sure that the palettes are all open. If not go to the menu bar > Window And select Tools, History, Layers, Colours (if your screen is too cluttered, they can be turned on and off as you need them). Tools palette History palette Layers palette Colours palette

Save the file - make sure that you know where it is saved!! Then keep saving it regularly!!

Open the folder containing the pictures and select thumbnail view. Drag an image icon into your Paint.NET canvas. Add into layer.

After dragging in a picture you will see that it has created a new layer Choose the move selected pixels tool. When you click over a control point on the picture, you can change the shape and size of the picture (hold shift down at the same time to avoid distorting it).

Add a new layer. If there is an area selected, then deselect it (Ctrl + D). Choose the Text tool and type title for your CD. You can choose style using the tool bar and colours from the palette.

Rotating the contents of a layer (text or manage).

Experiment with more layers, and some of the other tools. Don’t forget to keep saving your work, and making use of the History palette. When you have finished, save the file, then flatten it so that there is just one layer. Select all (Ctrl + A), copy (CTRL + C). You don’t need to save the flattened image.

CD image downloaded from: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Cd_case.svghttp://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Cd_case.svg by Kenny.r Open a new Word document. Paste your image into it (Ctrl + V). Select the picture and Format. Re-size to your original measurements, save and print. Graham Dean, BwD eLearning Service, December 2010
