Why use iPad for TMG Data? iPad is the personal choice for many people. It is light, portable and flexible If you are using an iPad personally, unlike the web, you may want to include data for living people

Three Part Problem Extract data out of TMG to a readable data format Transport the data to the tablet Software that can locate and read data

iPad Issues iPad does not have CD drive or USB port Safari, the default iPad internet browser, can not read open local files Directories (folders) are not visible on iPad

Don Ferguson’s Approach Use John Cardinal’s Six Steps to Second Site Second Site produces two directories: “name- i” and “name-o” Where “name” is the what you provided at step two in John Cardinal’s SS directions Zip the “name-o” files

Zip “name-o” folder To compress (or zip) a file or folder Locate the file or folder that you want to compress. Right-click the file or folder, point to Send to, and then click Compressed (zipped) folder. A new compressed folder is created in the same location. To rename it, right-click the folder, click Rename, and then type the new name.

Don Ferguson’s Approach Connect the iPad to the PC by cable The iPad appears as a device on the PC Use iTunes in conjunction with a software package called GoodReader on the iPad to move the Second Site data files from the PC to the iPad

Alternative Method to Move Data Files Use Dropbox – 2GB free recipient does not need to have a Dropbox account OR Send the files as an e-mail attachment subject to file size limitations of ISP

Create Second Site Folders Created Second Site Name-o Directories (folders) and moved them to Dropbox/Second Site

iPhone Acquire GoodReader from iTunes GoodReader will access index.htm

iPhone Select Dropbox icon Navigate to Folder containing zip file

If you want to use Dropbox, right click on folder. highlight Copy Dropbox link. Post link in e-mail

On iPhone navigate to folder containing zip file Next, click on circle to the right of the file name.
