What’s New for 2016 4  Combined administrations of SC READY & SCPASS in eDIRECT & DRC INSIGHT (Grades 3–8 Spring 2016)  Process for unlocking Online Test Tickets  The SCDE will not need to approve ticket unlocks for the following instances: Make-up testing due to student illness District/school power or internet outage Students who test over multiple days due to their IEP Plan.  The SCDE will still need to approve unlock requests for instances where students did not have sufficient time to finish their test.

What’s New for 2016 5  iPad – Autonomous Single App Mode (ASAM)  Calculator use for students in grades 6–8: SC READY mathematics (calculator section only) and SCPASS science  Two test tickets per student for SC READY online testing of ELA (all grades) and grades 6–8 mathematics  Oral Administration available only for mathematics, science, and social studies  No VSL for SC READY

SC READY 6  Grades 3–8 ELA and Mathematics  ELA is a two-day test for all grades Session 1: one TDA Item (text-dependent analysis), as well as other item types (see slide 10) Writer’s Checklist, TDA rubric, and sample TDA items posted to eDIRECT and SCDE’s web page Session 2: passage-based items (see slide 10)  Mathematics calculator/no-calculator sections for grades 6–8 administered same day

Resources 9 Test Administration Manual for Online and Paper/Pencil Testing (available now) DTC Supplement on eDIRECT (available now) STC/TA Training Tool (March 24) Online Testing Technology Training Presentation (available now) DRC INSIGHT Technology User Guide (available now) Electronic Security Checklists and Packing Lists ( SC READY: April 11 SCPASS: April 26) Each of the above resources will be available on eDIRECT on the date shown.

SC READY Item Types 10 Subjects / Sessions GradesItem TypeItem Type Description ELA & Mathematics 3–8Selected Response (SR)Students select their responses from a list of possible answer options. Some of these items may be multi-select items, where students will be prompted to select more than one response option (e.g., “Choose two answers” or “Select ALL...”). The multi-select items may have 5 or 6 answer choices. In order to receive credit for a correct response to a multi-select item, a student must select all of the correct answer choices and only the correct answer choices. ELA 3–8Evidence-Based Selected Response (EBSR) These are two-part items. Students first read a piece of text or passage and choose the best answer from the answer choices. Students are then asked to support their response with evidence from the text—e.g., select multiple evidence statements, place multiple steps in correct sequence, place multiple punctuation marks correctly, etc. In order to receive credit for a correct response, students must answer both parts of the item correctly. ELA Session 1 only 3–8Text-Dependent Analysis (TDA)Students read a piece of text or passage and draw upon that text for their extended written responses—i.e., support their responses with evidence from the text. Mathematics 6–8Short Answer (SA) or Gridded Response (GR) For online testers, students will key a numeric response (short answer) in DRC INSIGHT. For paper/pencil testers, students will grid a numeric response (gridded response) on their answer document. Mathematics 6–8Technology Enhanced (TE)For online testers only, students interact with the item (in DRC INSIGHT) to provide their response—e.g., drag and drop, hot spot, graphing, etc. Comparable SR items will replace TE items on the paper/pencil tests.

SCPASS Item Types 11 SubjectsGradesItem TypeItem Type Description Social Studies4–84–8 Selected Response (SR)Students select their responses from a list of 4 possible answer options. Some of the field-test items may be multi-select items, where students will be prompted to select more than one response option. Science & Social Studies 4–84–8 Technology Enhanced (TE)For online testers only, some of the field-test items will require students to interact with the item (in DRC INSIGHT) to provide their response—e.g., drag and drop, drop-down menu, hot spot, etc. Science7 & 8 Scenario-BasedThe field-test items may included a scenario (science-based information, charts, graphs, etc.) with more than one related item.
