What we know Mental health problems and/or problematic alcohol and substance use is the most important health issue affecting young Australians 1 in 4 young people live with a mental illness 75% of mental health problems emerge before the age of 25 Up to 50% of substance use problems are preceded by mental health issues in young people Suicide is the leading cause of death among young people; and young men are three times more likely to kill themselves than women

headspace Headspace sees young people aged 12 to 25. Young people come for anxiety, depression, family stress, school stress, bullying, grief and loss, alcohol and other drug issues, anger, most life issues. We have Youth Workers, Psychologists, Social Workers, and Drug and Alcohol Counsellors. You, a family member, a GP, or someone that cares about you can make a referral by phone or email.
