3. Creating a spread sheet model You have been presented with a design for a basic model which can help you can develop or you can create your own. Your next task is to recommend a ticket price to Festivals UK. In order to do this you must create a spreadsheet model that enables you to come to a final decision, based on possible income and costs. You must ensure that you meet all the requirements for this task Think about the skill building you have undertaken

4. Requirements The festival must at least break even. The model should accept:  text, such as the names of the artists you intend to book  currency amounts, such as the cost of each artist  numeric data, such as the capacity of the three venues you intend to consider. The model should calculate:  overall income  overall costs  profit/loss  a recommended ticket price for the festival. Your task is to develop a spread sheet model that allows the investigation of different possibilities and provides opportunities to ask ‘what-if’ questions.

5. Costs guide You should use real costs wherever possible. However if you experience difficulty finding suitable venue costs then the following can be used to estimate a booking cost. 6. Developing the model Think about what you want your model to do. What choices will there be? Use the ideas to enhance the model sheet to improve your basic model – This is in the activity 2 – Festival spread sheet folder You may need to carry out some more research to complete your model Remember to try consider the realism and viability of your predictions Ensure you update your sources table Remember to seek feedback from your teacher and test buddy

Recommendations You must use information generated from your spread sheet model to produce a presentation that explains and justifies the final decision on a ticket price for the festival Use examples from your model and include speaker’s notes in your presentation to explain your recommendations. Evidence of testing will be inferred from the quality of the model – although test plans are not required you must explain modifications made as a result of testing in your review

9. Requirements for the presentation The presentation must include:  the logo and strapline  information from the model to support your recommendations  charts to illustrate your findings  clear justification of your recommended ticket price. Aim for the presentation to last no more than five minutes. Avoid including slides with a large amount of text to be read; use speaker’s notes instead – these should be detailed
