2. Mice and Rats: Actions You Can Take Make sure garbage cans have tight-fitting lids and cannot be tipped over: Attach them to a wall with a bungee cord or build a platform to hold them securely. Do not put food scraps in your compost pile. If you have a dog or cat, be sure to clean up pet poop in the yard daily - it attracts rodents. Either bury it or flush it down the toilet Block all holes in siding or floors where mice and rats may enter. Replace or repair damaged siding or flooring Cover holes around water pipes with sheet metal or sturdy wire mesh patches Place metal screening over vents or other openings that may allow mice or rats to enter Reduce hiding places by cutting back blackberry bushes and picking up piles or trash, yard debris and wood

Chemicals: Actions You Can Take: Properly dispose of hazardous household products Buy the least hazardous product for your job Contains less toxic ingredients than other commercial products Has no scent or only a mild scent Baking soda; vinegar; liquid castle soap or Murphy's oil soap Always read the labels.
