Oil recovery solutions since 1967 Introduction 2 Conventional Methods What is it? How Does it Work Different Applications Key Features and Benefits Questions & answers
4
Oil recovery solutions since 1967 Overview Vikoma offers quality equipment for each stage of an oil spill operation, including booms, skimmers, tanks, powerpacks and pumps. Vikoma can also offer a range of oil spill response vessels, dispersant spray systems and a range of ancillary equipment, making the job quicker, easier and more effective. Oil recovery solutions since 1967 Vikoflex Boom What is it? Vikoflex is a series of light and flexible booms that can be deployed rapidly and without the need for any special ancillary equipment. It consists of boom, in lengths of 5 - 25m The sizes can range from 350mm to 1100mm total height. It can be suitably stored on an aluminium crate or in an optional custom boom bag. Vikoma also offer a range of optional ancillary equipment including tow bridles and navigation lights.

Oil recovery solutions since 1967 Where is it used? Vikoflex can be used for intertidal zones, rivers, marshes or indeed any application that requires a seal between the land and water. Nearshore areas Rivers, lakes and inland waters Successfully employed with: Emergency response organisations Organisations Coast Guards Port Authorities Vikoflex Boom

Oil recovery solutions since 1967 How does is it work? VikoFlex Boom is a curtain boom with internal foam buoyancy. It is suitable for oil spill response or for permanent installation. It is robust, easy to deploy and is suitable for calm protected waters including harbours, lakes and slow flowing rivers. It is resistant to sunlight, hydrocarbons and rough treatment while being durable and easy to clean. The boom is fitted with handles to aid in deployment and recovery. The VikoFlex Boom is manufactured using high quality reinforced PUA coated fabric. Tension member(s) are incorporated into the boom for added strength. The boom is visible on radar thanks to radar reflective elements built into closed cell foam buoyancy panels. Vikoflex Boom

Oil recovery solutions since 1967 Boom Connectors Boom Connectors allow easy connection of boom sections. They aid in the deployment and operation of the boom by connecting towing bridles. Boom connector options are; ‘U’ Bolts Vikoma’s patented Minicon™ connectors Mini ASTM connectors Minicon™ and Mini ASTM are quick release connectors and are extruded from marine grade aluminium and are highly resistant to corrosion. Oil recovery solutions since 1967 Storage Options VikoFlex Boom can be stored on a hydraulically powered Vikoma reel. This allows easy deployment and operation with minimal man power. Vikoma boom reels are designed to withstand the harsh marine environments and can be supplied with a flexible weather cover or fixed into a standard ISO container. The Vikoflex can also be fleeted and stored on Marine Grade Aluminium Alloy pallets. This enables the boom to be pulled quickly from the pallet into the water. The pallets have one removable side and can be stacked up to 3 high. They can be supplied with a flexible weather cover, or fixed into a standard ISO container. The VikoFlex can also be supplied on standard wooden pallets for transportation. Vikoflex Boom

Oil recovery solutions since 1967 Quick and easy deployment. No inflation required results in simple operation. The unique design and construction results in a high strength flexible boom. No vertical stitching ensures boom integrity under tensile load. The crate system requires no power to deploy or recover the boom. The crates are stackable thus saving floor space. VikoFlex is designed to enable connection with other Vikoma boom systems and equipment thus extending the range of operation. Vikoflex Boom
