© 2012 RedCard, LLC Industry Trends: Member Communication  Movement from “transactional” to “episode-based” communication  Reduce postage costs  Reduced in-bound call center volume  Rapid change and explosion of compulsory information  Regulatory mandates (CMS – Medicare MSN’s, Part D, and SBC)  PPACA  Document design and clarity of information becoming increasingly important to brokers, plan admin and HR  Consistency of design/branding from enrollment through statement-based communications TriZetto Payer Conference – May 2014

© 2012 RedCard, LLC Member Communication “Continuum”  Payers want to establish consistency from ID Cards to Statements  Primary “tangible” touchpoints  High-design look and feel  Branding/Color  Provide the right information at the right time  ID Cards act as a “quick reference guide”  EOB/Remits provide most critical information  Consistency of document design/branding is helpful to sales team, brokers, and consultants  Consistent, well-designed paper documents act as a bridge to delivering communication electronically TriZetto Payer Conference – May 2014

© 2012 RedCard, LLC Member Communication Electronic Communication and Web-Presentment  Traditional web-presentment and “pull” notifications have not generated high utilization – but are still a necessary tool  Email notifications with pull to payer web portal yield 4-5% adoption (source: Madison Advisors)  Print suppression in healthcare applications overall runs 8-9% (source: Madison Advisors)  Third party “single source” repositories have not been successful in healthcare (i.e. Microsoft HealthVault, Google Health, WebMD)  Members still are driven by link of employer/payer  Macro health sites are often viewed as information sources  Push e-delivery technologies have promise, but have not penetrated many healthcare applications due to privacy/security concerns  Payers have focused on “macro solutions” for e-delivery, but new trends are leaning towards “targeted solutions” for high volume receivers of paper TriZetto Payer Conference – May 2014

© 2012 RedCard, LLC Member Communication Mobile Integration  Initial mobile apps in healthcare have often been developed only for one particular application  Document presentment through mobile apps is garnering attention as part of payer mobile strategies  ID Cards (as seen on TV!)  App Design geared more towards “healthcare services” that a member may want from their payer/insurance company  Take your top 10 call center reason codes and turn them into an app i.e. “is my physician in network”, “where is the nearest urgent care center”, “is there an in network pharmacy close by”, “can I get a copy of my ID Card”  In summary, mobile in general and healthcare oriented mobile “apps” hold more promise that traditional web tools to drive e-adoption TriZetto Payer Conference – May 2014

© 2012 RedCard, LLC Transformation in HealthCare Payments  Except for largest payers, electronic payments in healthcare have not increased significantly in the last 10 years  Highly complex transaction  Providers do not want to give their banking information to payers unless there is a compelling reason (i.e. network reimbursement rates)  Traditional “payer paid” ACH payment models are transitioning to “provider paid” models  Stored value credit/debit card payment processes  Provider pays for ACH and data delivery  Integration of current “paper” check and remittance advice processes to e-payment processes is critical for success TriZetto Payer Conference – May 2014
