2 About PHCPI The Primary Health Care Performance Initiative (PHCPI) is a partnership that supports country policymakers, health system managers, practitioners, advocates and other development partners to catalyze improvements in primary health care in low- and middle-income countries through better measurement, knowledge- sharing and south to south learning. 6 PHC Vital Signs Indicators The 25 PHC Vital Signs indicators provide a snapshot of primary health care (PHC) performance. System Inputs Service Delivery Outputs Outcomes Is PHC prioritized in the country’s health system? Does the PHC system offer sufficient facilities, health care professionals, and supplies? Are services accessible and effectively organized, managed, and coordinated to deliver high quality care? Does the PHC system provide the essential services you need throughout each phase of life? Does the PHC system efficiently deliver better outcomes and greater equity? 6
