Scientific Question How does the color of the lightbulb affect how seeds germinate and grow ?

Hypothesis If we change the color of the light bulb then we expect that the red light bulb will cause faster growth.

Materials The blue light bulb The white fluorescent light bulb The red light bulb Pearl Millet seeds Bottle Bases Soil Graduated cylinder

Procedures 1Let the seed sit in water for 11 hours (pearl millet) 2 Get a plastic bottle and cut it 3 Get the bottle bases 4 Get scissors and cut the bottle base out of the water bottle 5 Put the fertilizer in the bottle base (125 ml) (x3) (9 bottle bases) 6 Get the pearl millet and push the seed down in the fertilizer 7 Pour 25 ml of water into each bottle base 8 Put three bottle bases under each light bulb 9 Turn the lights on 10 Let the bottle bases have light for 8 hours (8am-4pm) 11 Repeat each step and collect data

Results 1)The purpose of this experiment was to test the effects types of lights on seed germination 2)What happen in this data chart is that for a whole week we were trying to see which seed will germinate faster what we did was 3 trials for a week for each light bulb for red bulb the highest germination growth we had was 5.5cm the seeds sprouting more & getting taller. for the blue light bulb the highest germination 7 cm the stems sprouting more For the white light bulb the highest germination 4 cm the seeds is growing a little bit and growing overnight

Conclusion 1)Hypothesis: I think the red light bulb would make the seed growth grow faster and no my hypothesis was not proven 2)The reason why the red light bulb is the better light bulb because it's responsible for making plants flower and produce fruit it's also essential to a plant's early life for seed germination root growth and bulb development instead the blue light bulb is directly related to chlorophyll production also the blue light bulb helps plant grow strong and healthy stems and leaves.

Future Questions How can certain types of light bulb affect the growth on plants and different type of watts? Could we use more colors and different seeds to germinate?
