6 Homeland Security This Homeland Security Program is designed to introduce first responders, private sector specialists and students to the principles of Homeland Security training The Homeland Security Course is based on guidelines set forth by the Federal Department of Homeland Security, the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services and the Homeland Security Defense Educational Consortium. The Homeland Security Program will meet State Academic Requirements for an Associates of Arts Degree and will articulate with State Colleges and University four year degree programs

9 Homeland Security Program Objectives The Introduction Course will introduce the student to the concepts of Standardized Emergency Management, National Incident Management, and Incident Command In accordance with the Department of Homeland Security and the Office of the Governor, Division of Emergency Services the student will learn how to: Prepare Respond Investigate, and Recover from a man made or natural incident

10 Homeland Security Course #1 Introduction The Introductory Course will introduce the student to Homeland Security concepts, theory and terminology The Course will identify known domestic and foreign threats to security The Federal “Operation Security” approach is taught to identify threats to local, state, and federal targets. These targets include government agencies, civilian centers and business enterprises
