1 KapConsulting LLC. Director of Sales and Marketing Jeremiah LaPlante I have been attending Kaplan University since 2013 and have really enjoyed my experience here. This last term that consisted of the internship program was a great experience. I started in the program as a marketing representative, which was a humbling experience since I currently work in management. I was motivated to help improve this program and try to gain more clients that we can assist with. I developed a overview for new interns coming in behind me which I shared with all my team members to help them in their pursuit of gathering new clients I call the road map to success. I have worked in sales and marketing for the past 15 years and felt my working experience would truly help those who have never done so. I was promoted to the Director position after three weeks and really feel I made a positive impact on my team and as well as the program. My ultimate goal in this internship was to make the experience even better for the ones entering next.

3 Current Projects Road Map to Success. I developed a information sheet to give new interns a better understanding of what we are expected to do, and how to go about doing it in the most effective manner possible. I gave tips to consider when contacting clients, like keep the message short, always use read receipts, don’t take no as the final answer, and always speak to the emotions of the client. They purchase on emotions not facts…. SOP’s. I advised my team to develop Standard Operating Procedures so that they could be used for the next group of interns to give them a heads up on how to conduct themselves during the program and how to do their jobs effectively. Joshua Gordy HOPE Foundation. Our sales team was able to uncover a great partnership with this nonprofit and we have begun promoting them on our social media sites, as well as developed a newsletter for his nonprofit organization. Josh plays for the New York Giants, and wants to have Kaplan really help, he is willing to do radio interviews, as well as have us help design marketing materials for him. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Sacramento. I personally uncovered this account here in my home town when I was a representative, and they would like for KapConsulting to help bring more awareness to their organization. KapConsulting Advertising brochure. I instructed our advertising manager to develop a graphically designed brochure to highlight what we can offer clients to be sent with follow up emails once the potential client shows interest in the free radio ad.

4 Challenges and Solutions C: Lack of information for new interns starting the program  S : We developed a road map for new interns to follow to help them be more successful and lessen the anxiety of the first week. We also developed SOP’s(Standard Operating Procedures) to help new interns also. C: Lack of follow up with interested potential clients.  S: I saw this as a major issue. We would contact at least 20 potential clients weekly and the follow up would not happen once handed off to operations. So I decided to have my team do the initial follow up to the ones interested and provide them with a brochure of our services and explain to them how we work. Since we are run by interns I had my team inform the clients this, and make them aware that the process will take more time than a normal consulting company as we are all students.

5 Experiences/Accomplishments I had a wonderful experience with this program. It allowed me to use my management skills and style for the team I managed. I like the coaching style of management where I inspire my team to succeed rather than show them how. I feel it is better to allow my team to shine with their superior work and allows me to guide them to be the most successful that they can be. A coach is there to teach you the proper ways of succeeding but is not responsible for doing it for them. The accomplishment I am most proud of is the way our team came together as a cohesive unit. We all supported each other in our efforts and were all dedicated to making this experience successful for all involved. My hope is that I was an effective leader who helped my team realize that they are exceptional and a real asset to this team and company. I hope that they are able to take what I helped them with and remember the experience and use it for their future. If I was able to give them more faith in how a manager should treat his employees than that is the greatest gift and accomplishment I could ever ask for.
