1. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. Matt 5:6

2. We all understand the concepts of physical hunger & thirst. They are “appetites” that must be filled if the body is to continue to live. Matt. 5:6 admits 2 truths for it to be successfully applied by believers.

3. Ê God does the filling. Matt. 5:6 – Hunger is only relieved when “food” is available to be eaten. – Thirst is only satisfied when “drink” is available to be consumed.

4. I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. John 6:35

5. I am the bread of life. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world. I am the bread of life. 6. Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. 7. Ê God does the filling. Matt. 5:6 – “Food” is plentiful…if man does not desire it, he dies of hunger. – “Drink” is abundant…if man does not long for it, he dies of thirst. Ë Man must have the desire.

10. Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby… 1 Pet 2:1-2

11. Matt. 5:6 The problem with many is they are not longing for what God provides. As a result, they fill themselves up with “food & drink” that will not satisfy their eternal needs.
