Introduction to ARTEMIS Date, location Two ARTEMIS related Legal Entities ARTEMIS Industry Association [founded 2007] Incorporating the ARTEMIS ETP since 2007 Status December 2010: 207 members from industry, institutes and universities First Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) published in 2006 [ARTEMIS-ETP] Updated SRA will be published in April 2011 ARTEMIS Joint Undertaking [founded 2008] Legal embodiment of JTI [Joint Technology Initiative] Members are Commission, 22 Member States and ARTEMIS Industry Association Funded programme originally envisioned: about 2.6 B€ [1.3 B€ reality?] 6 calls (2008-2013); 3 calls are completed resulting in 36 projects 4 th call in 2011 ARTEMIS Industry Association 6

Introduction to ARTEMIS Date, location ARTEMIS-IA has to pay 2/3 of the operating costs of the Joint Undertaking Office Agreement with the European Commission that ARTEMIS Industry Association pays 2/3 of the operating costs of the Joint Undertaking Office Current scenario is that over the lifetime of the Joint Undertaking ARTEMIS Industry Association pays 11 M€ Participants of selected projects should feel it a moral obligation to pay the same 1.5% of the eligible project costs to ARTEMIS Industry Association as ARTEMIS Industry Association members do ARTEMIS Industry Association 11
