What is Nextdoor? Nextdoor is a private, free, and secure network used by over 90,000 neighborhoods (50%+ across the US) and 1500+ agencies Nextdoor members are verified residents of their neighborhood Nextdoor members can only view posts from other members within their own neighborhood (not city-wide) Residents use Nextdoor to discuss community issues, recommendations, crime and safety, or to post classifieds 2
3
Neighbor-to-neighbor conversation is powerful 3 Recommendations · Community issues · Crime and safety Classifieds · Events Within Neighborhood · With Nearby Neighborhoods · Groups within Neighborhood
4
Residents want to hear from their local agencies 4 Community policing · Crime prevention · Emergency preparedness Public information · Urgent alerts
5
The City uses Nextdoor to 5 Inform residents about upcoming meetings, safety tips, urgent alerts and to discuss important issues in their neighborhoods Educate residents about available programs and services Request information, input and correct misinformation Activate residents to do their part to improve the quality of life Encourage community building at the neighborhood level
6
How it works Agencies access a custom interface to post a message to all or targeted residents Residents see agency posts on their Nextdoor website or mobile app, as well as through email Residents can reply to your posts, or send you a private message, creating two-way engagement Events spread the word about neighborhood watch meetings or community meet-ups 6
7
Coming soon 7 Polls will allow you to quickly ask questions and quantify results Members will soon be able to share a crime & safety post with police
