Location of the limbic system central underside of the cerebrum it covers the inner sections of the temporal lobes and the bottom of the frontal lobes

Thalamus Size: largest of the sections of the limbic system Location : the midline near the centre of the brain Shape: two walnut shaped parts Abnormalities:

Hypothalamus Size: weighs about 4 grams Location : both sides of the third ventricle just below the thalamus. Shape: small cone shaped ending near the pituitary gland

Hippocampus Size: About the same size and weight as the hypothalamus Location : Deep in the temporal lobe Structure: Shape: sea horse shaped curving back from the amygdala are the two horns

Amygdala Size: Smallest of the four Location : left and right side of the temporal lobes Shape: Almond shaped
