E-seniors : players, creators or consumers on the digital market ? How do seniors appropriate digital technologies The question should be : what can digital technologies bring to seniors and not how seniors can contribute to the growth of the world economy through the rise of Silver economy? I like the idea that, with Internet, you can live better, participate in active life at any age and…live cheaper / spend less money: you have a lot of websites telling you about what is free of charge (les radins.com, Paris gratuit, repaircafé..) uberization of our society means getting good services cheaper you can easily compare prices we will not be abused as seniors E-SENIORS - 2016

Internet helps seniors to be healthier ! E-health : you can learn to cure your way on the Internet (patientslikeme) you can have a doctor online BUT ALSO surfing on the Web, answering emails, Skypeing, being on forms means COGNITIVE STIMULATION from there you get to learn that you also NEED physical STIMULATION ( physical activity) both stimulations cumulated give you more HEALTH ! and It is considered that lifestyle (how humans eat, drink, smoke, use drugs, habits on the practice of sport and physical activity) plays a role in 53% of the health of the human being
10
the senior is EMPOWERED and can easily become PROACTIVE the senior is NOT any more a PASSIVE retired person and CONSUMER Internet GAMIFIES life ! the seniors will become PROACTIVE, will take ACTIONS and become ENTREPRENEURS, change their lives, feel the joy of taking risks ! you can -at any age - find little jobs to make some money ( take out the neighbor's dog), and especially becoming entrepreneur on the Web you can also feel USEFUL in our society by helping others (volunteering) OR by transmitting our knowledge/know-how to other generations
11
The need for digital education all this leads us to the subject of LIFE LONG LEARNING and, one of the most important thing to learn nowadays id DIGITAL fluency Note the difference between DIGITAL LITERACY : a literate person is perfectly capable of using the tools, knows how to use them and what to do with them, but the outcome is less likely to match his intention. DIGITAL FLUENCY : the person is comfortable with when to use the tools to achieve the desired outcome, and even why the tools they are using are likely to have the desired outcome at all.
12
E-SENIORS non-formal education We teach students how to appropriate new ways of living/new mind sets with the use of digital technologies how to get used to INTERNET culture how the web can make life easier for seniors The learners must learn how it works BUT the most important subject to teach is "for what is it useful to me" and our key for that is GAMIFYING if you want to change people make it through games it is easier and less stressful Seniors know better than anyone that LIFE is short and should be considered as a GAME !

Smart homes and silver economy The concept of silver economy is rising Startups are launching new services, products everyday BUT A - It does not necessarily mean that silver economy should take money from seniors! The people who want to make business should think of a new model where OTHER people pay (not the seniors whose living standard now decreases). But, for instance : insurance companies, and, especially, health insurances real estate companies, architects banks, all kind of big industrials, sponsors... They could pay for robots, smart home technologies because people could live better, healthier, longer, staying in their homes...
14
Smart homes and silver economy 2 B - seniors know thanks to their life experience what they want and like Industrial and academics who want to innovate for the silver market should first be RESPONSIBLE and put themselves in the position of a seniors, think like a senior, ask the seniors what they want and meet their needs think in terms of accessibility adopt a gamifying attitude in order to attract their target group !
