LMI - definitions A labour market is the place where workers and employees interact with each other. Information - facts provided or learned about something or someone Intelligence - the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills

Using Labour Market Information Good quality information is essential for people to make career decisions and plan their futures. Within that a key component is labour market information. Accurate labour market information can be used to support good decisions. This is a benefit to the individual and the employer.

Some typical questions asked? What is the likelihood of getting a particular job at the end of … course locally? What type and level of qualification are employers looking for? What jobs are available locally? What earnings can I expect? What are the chances of career progression in..? Where will I be able to find work as... ?

Making your choice? Things for you to think about: What are you good at? What sort of roles will suit your talents? What level of qualifications do you want to reach? Do you want to move? If not, what is available locally? How much do you need / want to earn?
