G1 Stage Cell Grows Carries out Normal functions
4
Replication When a cell is getting ready to divide, at what stage does it replicate its DNA?
5
S Phase S – Stands for Synthesis The DNA is replicated in this stage
6
Human DNA How many chromosomes do humans have in a body cell or Somatic Cell ? 46
7
Normal Chromosomes When a cell has a normal number of chromosomes it is represented with the abbreviation 2n
8
Question If a cell needs to copy its DNA in order to divide, How many chromosomes does a human cell have before it divides in mitosis? 46 x 2 = 92
9
Why is that? If there are 2 cells as a result you need to have 92 or double the amount so that when the cell splits it can have the normal 2n number of chromosomes 46.
10
Another Name 2n or the normal number of chromosomes can also be called DIPLOID
11
G2 Phase Cell goes through the last checkpoints to make sure it is ready to divide before it goes to mitosis
