1 Kindergarten Benchmark Assessment September Baseline

2 Directions Administer 1 on 1 Each assessment should be completed at the end of the month stated Provide manipulatives as needed Use checklist to monitor student progress Feel free to adapt questions

3 Question 1: Number Sense Start at 1 and count as high as you can –Stop the student if they reach 100

4 Question 2: Number Sense Count by 10’s to 100

5 Questions 3-5: Number Sense/Geometry Provide students with counters or any available manipulative Tell the student to show the number 4 using counters –If students show incorrect number, correct him or her before continuing to the next question Tell student to write the number 4 Have student draw an equal number of squares Repeat with the numbers 8 and 16

6 Question 6-8: Number Sense Show the number 5 Ask students to name the number that comes before and after the number 5 Repeat for the number 11 and 17

7 Question 9-10: Number Sense Using flashcards, have students order the numbers 5, 6, and 7 from least to greatest Repeat using the numbers 13, 14, and 15

8 Question 11: Number Sense Give students 20 counters Have them make groups of ten

9 Question 12: Number Sense What is the name of this coin? What is the value of this coin?

10 Question 13: Number Sense Identify the coin What is the value of this set of coins?

11 Question 14: Computation Jake has two crayons. His friend gives him two more crayons. How many crayons does he have in all?

12 Question 15: Computation Crystal has four erasers. She gave two to her friend. How many erasers does she have left?

13 Question 16: Computation/Algebraic Concepts Complete the number sentence using the following symbols +-=

14 Question 17: Computation/Algebraic Concepts Complete the number sense using the following symbols +-=

15 Question 18-19: Measurement Predict which animal is heavier. Point to that animal. Predict which animal would be taller. Point to that animal.

16 Question 20: Measurement Point to the picture that shows the balloon over the box.

17 Question 21: Measurement Point to the picture that shows the star inside the circle

18 Question 22: Measurement What time is shown on the clock?
