Page - 4 What is CMBE Certification? The CMBE certification is Florida’s premier stamp of approval for minority and women business entrepreneurs This designation promotes the utilization of Florida’s women and minority-owned business enterprises that are certified by the Office of Supplier Diversity State certification is widely accepted in the private sector as well as cities, counties, school districts, hospital and water management districts and other quasi governmental entities
5
Page - 5 What is SDVBE Certification? In the previous legislative session, House Bill 687 was signed into law which creates a vendor preference for service-disabled veteran business enterprises (SDVBE) Enhancements have been made to the MyFloridaMarketPlace registration process so that vendor businesses may now designate up to three designations (minority, women, service-disabled veteran) The State’s Office of Supplier Diversity began certifying vendors on November 11, 2008 (the day the bill took effect) The screenshots to follow show the steps vendors should take to designate a business as a SDVBE so that the Office of Supplier Diversity can complete the certification process

Page - 12 Benefits of CMBE Certification First Tier Referrals are given to minority and women-owned businesses that are certified by the state This means they are the first tier of businesses referred to state agencies seeking to include supplier diversity as a part of their purchase order and contract opportunities Strategic alliances with major corporations are encouraged as a part of the Office of Supplier Diversity’s (OSD) “Matchmaking” efforts Vendors certified by the state of Florida have “first stop” status as OSD strives to assist in developing business relationships, which hopefully will lead to contract opportunities
13
Page - 13 Benefits of CMBE Certification The Mentor-Protégé program is available to minority and women-owned businesses certified by the state of Florida to enhance the capability of CMBEs to compete more successfully for state government contracts The program expands the OSD’s efforts to identify and respond to the developmental needs of state-certified CMBEs The purpose of this program is to contribute to Florida’s economic growth by increasing opportunities, developing joint ventures and providing Florida’s minority- and women-owned businesses the necessary tools for success Special Emails and other information such as contract opportunities to special events, networking activities and technical assistance training are disseminated to state certified minority and women enterprises CMBE In the Spotlight is designed to highlight certified minority and women- owned businesses by industry to a target audience of purchasing agents and decision makers
14
Page - 14 Benefits of CMBE Certification Recertification is simplified for vendors who have registered in MyFloridaMarketPlace and completed the certification process Annually, all that is required is a signed affidavit for re-certification in order to reduce duplicated efforts Online Affidavit for Reclassification can be accessed by visiting: https://osdrecert.dms.myflorida.com/ https://osdrecert.dms.myflorida.com/ The Online directory lists only state-certified minority and women business enterprises The directory makes certified minority and women-owned businesses available by alpha and commodity listings to state and local governmental entities, as well as the general public and private-sector corporations The Online Directory can be accessed by visiting: https://vendorstrator.dms.myflorida.com/directory https://vendorstrator.dms.myflorida.com/directory
