3 Who We Are ✪ The country’s first-ever non-profit program that accelerates veteran-owned small business executives for success in the federal contracting market ✪ As word spread, our reach grew from regional in 2009 to national in 2011

4 Who We Serve ✪ Senior, “C-level” executives in veteran-owned small businesses with: ➱ At least two years in operation ➱ A minimum of three full-time employees ➱ Less than $25 million in annual revenue ➱ Previous experience with government contracts as a prime contractor or subcontractor FACT: Most federal agencies fail to meet their goal of awarding at least 3% of the $100 billion worth of government contracts to small businesses owned by veterans.

5 Our Program ✪ Three sessions a year, each with 50 attendees ✪ 27 hours of instruction over three days ✪ More than 30 experts in government and industry ✪ Our sponsors pick up the tab (except travel)

8 We Are Different ✪ The VIP program has four distinct features: ➱ Focuses on government contracting, an area in which veterans are uniquely qualified ➱ Fills gap between “start ups” and “big leaguers”—an in-between zone where many veteran-owned small businesses are cast adrift ➱ Creates a national network: Veteran-owned businesses Government procurement leaders Prime contractors Service providers ➱ Offers Congressional Citation at graduation FACT: The unemployment rate for post-9/11 veterans is almost 22%, more than twice the national average, according to a 2010 study by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

10 Who Benefits ✪ Our 245 most recent VIP graduates come from diverse small-business backgrounds: ➱ 73% are service-disabled ➱ 35% are small, disadvantaged ➱ 60% are minority-owned ➱ 8% are woman-owned ➱ 8% are HUBZone ➱ 100% are veteran-owned “ What VIP enabled us to do - it’s been almost transformational for our business. 11 Our 245 Recent VIP Graduates ✪ Partner with more than 100 prime contractors ✪ Sell to more than 60 federal departments, especially DoD agencies ✪ Have operated an average of 6.5 years ✪ Employ typically 10 or fewer employees ✪ Hire other veterans ➱ 55% of their employees are former warfighters, including service-disabled veterans

12 It’s Working ✪ A recent survey of 30 of our earliest graduates found that they: ➱ Created 570 new jobs ➱ Increased the size of their business by an average of 50% a year after completing the VIP workshops ➱ 85% credited VIP with equipping them to make recent business decisions and avoid unforeseen landmines ✪ 3 of the 7 SDVOB/VOB winners of the Veteran Affairs T4- $12B Contract are VIP Graduates! ✪ Many teaming arrangements among graduates for federal contracts ✪ We plan to expand our reach into construction and manufacturing, sectors that attract large numbers of veterans
