January – March 2014 TrainingCourse OverviewStart Date Art groupAn art class for all abilities to learn how to draw and paint using different mediums and techniques. Also, have a go at wood turning and pyrography and produce beautiful wooden items. Weekly sessions – £1.00 per week towards materials Every Thursday 10.30 – 12.30 Church Lane Community Centre Sewing class Repair and recycle This course will teach you how to: repair clothing such as zips and tears; turn up hems; recycle clothes; learn simple sewing techniques; and make new clothes or household items. Weekly sessions – £1.00 per week towards materials Every Friday 10.00 – 12.00 Church Lane Community Centre ESOL English for speakers of other languages This course is designed to help you understand English if English is not your first language. This is an opportunity to work towards a nationally recognised qualification. This course is free to all bpha residents 21 January 1.00 – 3.00 Priory Lower School Greyfriars Literacy/ numeracy Working at your own pace to improve everyday English or numeracy skills. An opportunity to work towards a nationally recognised qualification. This is on-line training that can be arranged for you at Bedford College Ongoing courses. January – March 2014 IT training Basic Level 1 Level 2 Working at your own pace to improve every day basic computer skills up to level 2 in computing. An opportunity to work towards a nationally recognised qualification. This is online training that can be arranged for you at the Bedford Learning Centre, High Street. Ongoing courses These courses are free to all bpha residents Contact Janet Cook 01234 791147 to book onto these courses Wallpaper hanging course We have designed this course to teach basic wallpaper hanging and cutting paper around windows, light switches and power switches. 2 hours a week – 8-week course This course is free to all bpha residents Wednesday 8 January 10.00 – 12.00 Bedford College, Cauldwell Street Basic DIYThis course will give you the skills to put up shelves and curtain rails, adjust doors, change locks, lay vinyl flooring, do basic wall tiling, and much more. 2 hours a week – 10- week course This course is free to all bpha residents Wednesday 8 January 1.00 – 3.00 Bedford College, Cauldwell Street NEW COURSE Cooking healthily on a small budget 2014 This course has been designed for people who cook on a small budget with a focus on basic cooking skills and buying the right ingredients. 2 hours a week – 6-week course This course is free to bpha residents Date to be confirmed Bedford College, Cauldwell Street
