Perform touch typing by keying words, sentences, and paragraphs (ongoing).( 30 nwpm-goal)

5 Day 1 Monday Daily Agenda Pre-Bell-3-Mins. Time Writing —2 Attempts- “What is a Blog?” on www.edutyping.com www.edutyping.com The teacher will review concepts and skills on previous classwork related to Career Development Skills Job Seeking Skills-Resume PowerPoint. The teacher will introduce lesson on career development skills and Web Quest Activity.. Teacher will discuss Do’s and Don’ts of a Resume from Teacher’s PowerPoint. The students will complete Web Quest Activity related to Oprah Winfrey by completing the Web Quest in Canvas and submitting exercise to the teacher For building speed and accuracy, continue www.edutyping.com Course Lessons-Unit 2 Numbers and Symbols-Differentiated Activities for students. Enrichments and Remedial Work Wrap up lesson with a review.

(Have students look from the Internet at variety of sample business reports. They can include memos, business plans, sales proposals, etc. Divide the students into pairs and distribute the sample reports. 9 Day 5 Fri. Daily Agenda Computer Business Report/Memo Assignment- Formatting (For 1st -6 th Period Classes) Regular Students The students will type business reports from the DigiTools Communication Information and Technology Skills Textbook on pages 345-346. The instructions are located on page 342-344. Save business reports to the server on your T drive as business reports and your last name and first initial to be submitted.

10 Do’s for a Résumé Do include your name, address, phone number, & email address on your résumé Do sure your résumé is error free – no typographical, spelling or grammatical errors Do list your skills, qualifications, and accomplishments in a primary position on your résumé Do select an appropriate format that includes a clean, professional appearance and an easy to read font Do make sure your résumé is brief, well organized, and focused on the position for which you are applying

11 Do not’s for a Résumé Do not include a date; you should put a date on your cover letter, not your résumé Do not include personal pronouns such as “I” in your résumé Do not include abbreviations in the body of your résumé Do not include personal information such as height, weight, social security number, driver’s license number, race, religion, marital status or political affiliation Do not include miscellaneous details such as salary requirements, supervisor’s name and title, marital status, number of children, hobbies or sports interests

13 What is a resume?  A resume contains information about an applicant.  A resume should be sent with a letter of application also known as a cover letter.  A resume should be neat and easy to read.

16  Begin with your most recent educational experience.  List the schools attended, dates, and courses completed

17 Employment Experience  Begin with your most recent employment experience.  List job titles, location, dates, and duties performed.

18 Activities and Awards  Extracurricular Activities  Community Service  Participation in church groups  Awards or Honors  List any of the following:

19 References  References are people who would recommend you for a job.  Always ask the person for permission before using them as one of your references.  Include the person’s name, position, address and phone number.  List between 2 and 4 references.
